Keynotes from top government officials and industry titans set a forward-looking tone, with major announcements centered on the strategic pillars of 6G technology, sovereign Artificial Intelligence, secure quantum communications, and a resilient national cybersecurity framework.
This year’s congress, larger than ever before, has moved beyond its traditional telecom focus to embrace the entire digital ecosystem. The central theme revolves around building a technologically self-reliant or ‘Aatmanirbhar’ India. The government, alongside industry partners, used the platform to outline a clear roadmap for the coming decade. The Bharat 6G Alliance took center stage, unveiling joint principles for developing an inclusive and affordable 6G standard. Alongside this, new whitepapers were released, detailing strategies for efficient spectrum allocation and the creation of AI-native networks, signaling a proactive approach to shaping the future of connectivity.
Artificial Intelligence dominated the discourse, with the government providing significant updates on the IndiaAI Mission. The plan to build a massive national GPU compute pool was detailed, with clear timelines for tenders and a framework for providing access to startups and academic institutions. This initiative is designed to fuel the development of indigenous Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI solutions, reducing India’s reliance on foreign infrastructure. Supporting this, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) showcased AIKosha, a comprehensive repository of Indian datasets and sandboxes aimed at training and evaluating AI models on local contexts.
Furthermore, quantum communications and cybersecurity were highlighted as critical national priorities. Several demonstrations of quantum-secured communication links were on display, showcasing India’s growing capabilities in this futuristic field. In parallel, CERT-In released new advisories and a national readiness plan for transitioning to quantum-safe cryptography.
